Bots in Fortnite are no secret but it really has gotten bad, huh? I remember trying the game out some years ago, was annoyed by the obvious bots in my games and never touched it again after one session. Things must’ve gotten more downhill since.

Unfortunately those are insanely cheap to operate for how effective they are. If anything they’ll invest even more in hacker groups and the like to generate income similar to the North Korean model. Though the Russian economy looks extremely dire. They can only keep up appearances for so long until inflation spirals out of control. A war economy needs meaningful military accomplishments to function and so far they’ve had none to really speak of. At least not compared to what they have to give up for it.
The sad part is this is actually his job description and Alphabet could get sued by shareholders if he didn‘t do exactly that. The stock market needs to be criminalized, not glorified as the one truth like it‘s treated right now.
Sorry, I really don‘t mean to be rude or hurtful, but from all I‘ve seen and I mean ALL I‘ve seen Chinese consumers have no taste whatsoever. Yes, their manufacturing has become great if they actually care about something but this argument is not about stability. What I mean is the more a company relies on the Chinese market and tailors their commodities abd luxury products around Chinese consumers, the uglier they become. Just look at European cars lately. Hideous. So yeah sorry again but I take that as a seal of quality for Apple‘s UI design.
And I wish they would tone down the hype. Maybe we can meet in the middle?
I‘ll just say I won‘t grand any machine even the most basic human rights until every last person on the planet has access to enough clean water, food, shelter, adequate education, state of the art health care, peace, democracy and enough freedom to not limit the freedom of others. That‘s the lowest bar and if I can think of other essential things every person on the planet needs I‘ll add them.
I don‘t want to live in a world where we treat machines like celebrities while we don‘t look after our own. That would be an express ticket towards disaster like we‘ve seen in many science fiction novels before.
Research towards AGI for AGI’s sake should be strictly prohibited until tech bros figure out how to feed the planet so to speak. Let‘s give them an incentive to use their disruptive powers for something good before they play god.
Why won‘t they tell us what they replaced windows with or on what they installed Lineage, though? The more people speculate, the more questions I have.
All I‘m saying is that said lab was one of the largest ones in the world to research SarS at that time and if my memory serves me right was only one of three in the world to research the type of SarS that could infect humans. Cave bats knowing to carry it naturally don‘t live anywhere near that region either (a detail most people probably never even considered). That makes the whole food stall theory doubtful with this giant lab next door.
Mix that with how the local and then national Chinese government have mismanaged the outbreak every step of the way (I still remember the terrifying headlines from late 2019 of warning doctors that vanished and fleeing international journalists vividly, so don‘t tell me that didn‘t happen) and it looks a whole lot like a classic lab leak combined with no action to contain it because then you would have to admit something went wrong. Because yes, lab leaks do happen from time to time but they‘re usually contained, but there are no signs containment was ever a priority in Wuhan apart from blocking national flights (international flights still went in and out though. The government didn‘t even issue a warning. Gotta keep the trade flowing I guess.).
It‘s also extremely valuable to actually listen to virologists word for word because what they have said many times is that Covid-19 just doesn‘t look like a virus you would make in a lab, implying it would be reckless to do research on something like that. That‘s the sole reason they disprove of the lab theory. They blindly trust their Chinese colleagues to work as vigilant and exemplary as they do when the timeline points to the opposite.
I doubt we will ever see any proof of a lab leak because Chinese officials have swept that lab and the records squeaky clean before they allowed any foreign investigation of the site. The lab leak theory is by far the most plausible one and believe me when I say it will happen again because those corrupt structures are still intact.
TikTok is the cause in other parts of the world at least. It has been washing the brains of friends and family for many years now. It‘s odd how the most apolitical people suddenly drop pro Chinese talking points at a gathering.
But what‘s worse is how it radicalizes young adults and teenagers and pushes them to the far right. Dictatorship suddenly becomes freedom and democracy becomes a prison to them. It‘s well documented how much anti-democratic content the platform is pushing aggressively and that‘s extremely beneficial for China.
I expect it‘s no different in Taiwan.
It looks to me like all they accomplished was making the job more dreadful and I‘m afraid the people making these decisions will see that as a partial success.
Mod logs aren‘t necessarily a good tool to keep track of bad actors either because you don‘t know the mods. I think someone would have to have a lot of entries from several communities for me to even raise an eyebrow. It‘s tough.
That way of thinking is a trap. They did have a more reasonably priced ad free tier but people using it only made it worse over time because it got so popular that Youtube could confidently raise prices and slash benefits. And the line has to go up. That‘s the only thing that matters to them.
The presentation looks too fluid. I don‘t see any room or reason to use a controller live on stage there other than to pretend. The entire thing looks scripted through and through so why would you even make Ciri controlled live there? Feel free to send me time codes where the camera itself actually looks like it‘s controlled by the guy behind the pult, though. I can‘t see anything. It looks like a normal tech demo with preselected inputs to me and I see no reason why they would give the guy control over anything.
What actually stuck out most to me besides Witcher 4 was their LLM based „Don‘t press the button“ game presentation at the very end of the show. No one is really talking about it because it was really lame but I think it‘s telling how they showed the AI driven stuff after everything else almost to kind of sweep it under the rug because they know most people are already sick of AI but they still had to include it for gullible shareholders or something.
Well damn I know it’s just footage of a tech demo so there is a lot that can happen still and Ciri was definitely not controlled live (as they tried to make us believe if you watched the full event. Like seriously, who’s going to believe you when you slice up a horse and voxelize trees? Holding the controller on stage was just corny, sorry guys) BUT it looks amazing! I especially loved how they showcased some of the technical details. I really didn’t think it would impress me this much because they showed way more about a game that’s probably years away from release than I ever anticipated. And again, a lot can still happen and go wrong but I would lie if I said I wasn’t hyped already. Mission accomplished I guess.
When did Snowden whistleblow? This isn‘t exactly new tech.
Depriving the internet of an opportunity for good old German bashing. How sinister of you. /s
To me the chart makes little sense in that these nations do not exist nearly for that long so dividing these geographic spots by today‘s borders is arbitrary at best and deliberate framing at worst.
Would be a shame if people had so sift through AI generated gore before the bots like and comment it. But seriously, good on them.
Bambu as a company are pretty much the poison for 3D printing that made ink home printers a nightmare. That and lobbying to regulate and criminalize a lot of what makes 3D printing great. I fear we‘re at our peak already and it can only go downhill from here. We are just not allowed to have nice things in the 21st century.
